South By Southwest

March 20, 2012
March 20, 2012 - For five days, Austin, Texas, once again became the place to be (or not to be) for the South By Southwest Music Conference. Although envisioned as a time and place for emerging bands to showcase their music to industry professionals, the conference now attracts over 2500 bands playing on over 100 different stages ranging from large music halls to corners of hotel lobbies. Although there remains much new music to discover, major artists this year included: Jack White, The Shins, The Counting Crows and an intimate lottery only performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band just three days before he began his North America Tour in Atlanta. Georgia bands were well represented in several official and unofficial showcases throughout the week.
