Special event: Caribbean Carnival

You don't need a luxury cruise to enjoy the sights and sounds of the islands. The annual ATLANTA CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL kicks off this weekend, marking 21 years of celebration. Carnival showcases Caribbean culture with a parade Sat., MAY 23, on West Peachtree Street and ending with a festival on Auburn Avenue. Atlanta Carnival LLC also presents the two-day CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL VILLAGE Sat.-Sun., MAY 23-24, at the Masquerade. Attendees can enjoy costume-making and live performances from internationally known soca artists, steel-drum artists and street dancers known as Moko Jumbies. Atlanta Caribbean Carnival: Free-$10.
