Those willing to make the 55-mile trek east on I-20 to Madison will be rewarded at HAND.CRAFT.IT, a market, music fest and contemporary craft exhibit. Once you've perused the handmade offerings from more than 50 vendors, such as Karin Eriksson's elegantly simple ceramics, mosey on over to any of three museum galleries that explore the history of the indie craft movement. Music performances throughout the day – on the same stage that hosted R.E.M. and Of Montreal music videos, interestingly enough – include Hope for Agoldensummer, Bowerbirds and Ola Podrida. A 20-minute screening of Handmade Nation, a documentary based on the book of the same name, rounds out the Sat., DEC. 13, program. Free-$10. Market: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Exhibit: Through Jan. 20. Free. Tues.-Sat., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., 2-5 p.m. Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, 434 S. Main St., Madison. 706-342-4743. handcraftitfestival.com.
