Internationally renowned Tibetan musician and Emory affiliate artist Techung leads a troupe of professionally trained Tibetan dancers and singers in a performance of one of Tibet's most beloved folk operas. The opera will be introduced by leading Tibetan intellectual Jamyang Norbu, former director of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala, India. The performance will include English narration to help the audience follow this story of the betrayal of the beautiful Sukyi Nyima and her eventual transformation into an enlightened Buddha.
