Swans, A Hawk and A Hacksaw

When: Fri., Oct. 19, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $20-$25
Michael Gira and his reactivated Swans outfit return playing songs from the group's second post-reformation album, and the pinnacle of Gira's 30+ year career as a songwriter, The Seer (Young God Records). If your ears are still bleeding from the last time Swans laid waste to the area in September 2011, prepare yourself for a glorious atrocity exhibition, all over again. The group was going through a transitional phase back then. With The Seer, Swans have become a focused and powerful entity, churning out a post-industrial folk roar that's swelling with equal parts beauty and miasma, wrapped in droning, single-chord dirges that are both terrifying and majestic. This show will change you. A Hawk and A Hacksaw, featuring Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeremy Barnes, also perform.
