In 1935, a young British film director named Alfred Hitchcock cemented his reputation as a master of witty suspense flicks with THE 39 STEPS, in which an innocent man gets wrongfully accused of a crime, finds himself handcuffed to a beautiful woman and ultimately uncovers a criminal conspiracy. Playwright Patrick Barlow's acclaimed, high-spirited adaptation casts four actors in more than 100 roles to replicate the film's snappy pace for the stage. In Theatre in the Square's production, Clint Thornton directs Jason MacDonald, Catherine Dyer, Bryan Mercer and Scott Warren.
