A 26-year-old Lithonia man
A few hours later, when the man returned to pick up his car, he discovered that one tire was flat.
"It appeared that someone had taken the vehicle and had driven it and brought it back," the officer wrote in his report. "There were obvious signs that the vehicle caught a flat and was driven for some distance on the flat tire. Parking attendants volunteered to fix the flat tire."
No charges were filed at time of report.
On Flat Shoals Avenue,
The officer wrote in his report: "[The 44-year-old woman] said the incident occurred at the washhouse over an argument for a quarter."
The woman was taken to Grady Hospital to be treated for neck and back pain. The brother fled before police arrived.
A 34-year-old man
The 34-year-old man said the driver arrived at his apartment in a green-and-yellow Volkswagen Beetle, with the music playing very loud.
The 34-year-old asked the driver to turn down the music. According to the 34-year-old, the driver became upset and got in his face.
The 34-year-old said he smelled alcohol on the driver's breath, so he grabbed the driver's car keys.
The two men got into a scuffle over the car keys. Eventually, the driver, a heavyset man in his 30s, grabbed the keys and left.
The 34-year-old called police and said he wanted to report the incident because he felt the driver had assaulted him.
This same type of theft has happened to the woman previously. So she walked to the Eastridge Avenue home of the 36-year-old man who was suspected of breaking into her car on the previous occasion.
In the suspect's neighbor's yard, the woman found her black leather organizer and all the checks. She also found her ashtray.
The $2 in change wasn't retrieved.
The woman's car door had been unlocked, and there was no damage to the car.
When the officer arrived, he heard sounds of someone walking in the wooded area of the front yard. The officer saw the suspect, a 32-year-old man with stained teeth, exit the wooded area and walk down West Paces Ferry Road. When the officer stopped the suspect, the suspect said, in a stammer, that he was looking for somewhere to keep warm.
The suspect was charged with loitering/prowling; disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol.
