The Blotter January 20 2001

At about 1:30 a.m., a police detective and two police investigators were working a special detail on Metropolitan Avenue. They observed a 21-year-old woman “dressed provocatively trying to stop vehicles for the purpose of prostitution,” according to the report. The reporting officer noted in the report, under the “clothing type” category, that the woman’s clothing style resembled “Ladie (sic) of the Night.”
The woman was told to leave the area. She drove away in a gray Pontiac traveling south on Metropolitan Avenue, but she improperly used her signal light. Officers pulled her over and discovered she had no driver’s license.
While the woman was being handcuffed and arrested, a 28-year-old man solicited the woman for a blowjob in exchange for $30 — in front of a police investigator. When the woman took the money, but didn’t perform the blowjob, the man threatened to kill her.
Officers witnessed the threat, and took both the man and woman to jail.
An officer responded to an alarm call at the intersection of Metropolitan and Dill avenues. The officer noted, “Upon my arrival I observed at least 20 prostitutes were standing in the Citgo parking lot on the corner.” The officer noted that one or two prostitutes appeared to be standing on a back deck of a local business.
“Upon my approach the prostitutes all left in various vehicles. There were also at least 15 cars soliciting offers from the prostitutes as well as cars completely blocking the intersection of Metropolitan [Avenue] and Dill. One of the prostitutes became very disruptive and stated that she and her pimps were going to ‘start complaining on any officer who disrupted their business. She had to be out there.’”
According to the report, no arrests were made.
A woman called police and said a man, age 19-21, who lives on Dill Avenue, was upset with her and threw her puppy over the fence at a location on Graham Avenue, where three pit-bull dogs bit and fought the puppy to death. Fulton Animal Control transported the puppy’s body.
The woman did not tell police the content of the argument. A sergeant on scene told the reporting officer not to go to the suspect’s home, and to advise the woman to take out a warrant.
A 28-year-old woman >said she returned to her apartment on Fairburn Road after a five-day absence and found two men asleep on her couches. A side window had been broken, and someone had robbed her apartment. Missing items included a Wal-Mart bicycle (valued at $169), a microwave oven, and $100 worth of groceries.
Local juveniles told police that a third man had sold them the stolen bicycle for $3. The 28-year-old said she knew the third man who sold the bike; he used to take everyone’s garbage out and do errands in exchange for money. She said the two men on her couches frequently hang out behind a local grocery store, and one of them used to put her groceries away for her. All three men had a history of drug use. According to the police report, no charges were filed, but the report did not indicate if the men had fled the scene.
An officer responded to a “persons fighting” call at an apartment on Bolton Road. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a 20-year-old woman who said that she and her husband, 33, had been arguing. According to the woman, the husband yelled at her about an affair she had in the past, and refused to have sex with her. He told her to leave the room or he would kick her ass. He started pushing her around the face.
The officer noted no visible injuries on the woman, and noted that both parties had been drinking alcohol. The husband was taken to jail.
