Launched by the German Historical Institute (Washington, DC) in 2010, the Immigrant Entrepreneurship: German-American Business Biographies, 1720 to Present is an ambitious project aimed at fostering research into two cornerstones of American experience. It features a published online collection of ca. 200 biographical essays of first and second generation German-American businesspeople. By synthesizing the diverse fields of business history, entrepreneurship research, migration history and German-American studies, the project will make a significant contribution to a wide array of academic disciplines and offer unique tools for teaching and research.
