See & Do - Theater: 1:23 April 10 2009

Sun., April 19

How could a mother take the life of her child? Especially in these modern times, when there are so many options for desperate mothers, like adoption or newborn drop-off sites established in an attempt to reduce the rate of death by abandonment. Synchronicity Performance stages 1:23, a drama that examines this difficult topic by portraying the lives and crimes of Susan Smith, Andrea Yates and Juana Leija, women who drowned their children. Water, familiar in its capacity to both heal and take life, runs throughout the work in an attempt to explain the unimaginable to the uninitiated. Through May 17. $15-$23. Thurs.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 7 p.m. 7 Stages Back Stage Theatre, 1105 Euclid Ave. 404-484-8636. www.synchrotheatre.com.
