Literary and theater buffs alike, get ready – Ernest J. Gaines’ award-winning novel A LESSON BEFORE DYING hits the stage at Theatrical Outfit. A Lesson Before Dying tells the story of a young black man wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The novel, recently named as part of the 2008 Big Read National Reading Program by the National Endowment for the Arts, grapples with issues of injustice, racism and capital punishment.
