In preparation for a production at the 2009 National Puppetry Festival, Haverty Marionettes remounts its 2007 inaugural production of AS I LAY DYING. Michael Haverty's adaptation uses folk art, pre-WWII carnival effects and silhouette animation (not to mention puppets) to capture the Mississippi setting and stream of consciousness of William Faulkner's classic novel. Selected as the Best Theatrical Premiere of 2007 by Creative Loafing. Through July 12. $15-$18. Thurs.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 5 p.m. Alliance Theatre Hertz Stage, 1280 Peachtree St. 404-733-5000. www.havertymarionettes.org.
