Theater: Ceremonies in Dark Old Men

Wed., July 11

True Colors Theatre's latest production, CEREMONIES IN DARK OLD MEN, opening Wed., JULY 11, takes place in a Harlem barbershop, but don't expect the comedic hijinks of the Alliance Theatre's Cuttin' Up. Atlanta's Kenny Leon directs the heavyweight family drama from 1969, which features such powerhouse actors as Eugene Lee, real-life brothers Brandon and Jason Dirden (who play brothers here), and Glynn Turman, who played the recurring role of Baltimore's opportunistic (and fictional) Mayor Royce on HBO's brilliant series "The Wire." Through July 28. $25-$29. Showtimes vary. The Balzer Theatre at Herren's, 84 Luckie St. 678-528-1500. www.truecolorstheatrecompany.com.
