For the first show of its 13th season, Aurora Theatre celebrates the arrival of professional baseball in Lawrenceville with the vintage musical DAMN YANKEES. Aurora artistic director Anthony Rodriguez plays the Devil, aka Mr. Appleby, who gives an aging superfan the chance to become a young baseball star and turn the hometown chumps into World Series champs. Wendy Melkonian plays the temptress, Lola, so it'll be fun to see how steamy she makes the famed number "Whatever Lola Wants." Aurora's baseball-themed promotions include having Gwinnett Braves General Manager Bruce Baldwin "throw out the first pitch" on Thurs., AUG. 7, as well as making every Saturday matinee a souvenir bat day. Through Sept. 7. $16-$30. Thurs.-Fri., 8 p.m.; Sat., 2:30 and 8 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 p.m. 128 E. Pike St., Lawrenceville. 678-226-6222. www.auroratheatre.com.
