Essential Theatre moves POWER PLAYS, its annual festival of regional and world-premiere plays, from winter to summer this year, just in time to stage Christopher Durang's holiday satire Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge (pictured) continuing Sun., JULY 1, and through July 22. The repertory also includes the world premiere of the Essential Theatre Playwriting Award's latest winner. Fix Me So I Can Stand is Atlantan Jean Sterrett's drama inspired by a true story about an African-American falsely convicted of a double homicide in 1970s Georgia. Finally, Night Travels, Essential's company-created compilation of short, original pieces about women's dreams, features contributions from such writers as Ellen McQueen, Charlotte Fleck and previous Essential Theatre Playwriting Award winner Karen Wurl. $15-$25. Times and dates vary. 7 Stages Back Stage Theatre, 1105 Euclid Ave. 404-523-7647. www.essentialtheatre.com.
