Award-winning playwright, performer and slam poet Daniel Beaty (pictured) scales back a little for his new solo show RESURRECTION, continuing Sun., FEB. 10. And "scaling back" is merely a matter of perspective: At last year's National Black Arts Festival, Beaty played more than 40 characters in his New York fantasy Emergence-SEE!. In Resurrection, he plays six roles, including a child scientist, an ex-convict, a corporate executive and a megachurch bishop. With characters spanning all walks of life and ages 10 to 60, Beaty's True Colors Theatre Company performance promises to be a singular event. Through Feb. 17. $20-$25. Wed.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 p.m. 14th Street Playhouse, 173 14th St. 404-733-4738. www.truecolorstheatrecompany.com.
