Theater: Shakespeare Tavern Repertory

Thurs., Aug. 21

While most theater companies slow down during the dog days of summer, the New American Shakespeare Tavern continues its tradition of speeding up. Thanks to its AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER REPERTORY, you can see a different play every night beginning Thurs., AUG. 21, many of which are remounts from the season that just finished. The lineup switches each time, but this week, for instance, you can catch the rarely performed history play King John on Thursday, the classic comedies Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night on Friday and Saturday, respectively, and the irreverent modern take on The Bard, The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) on Sunday. Through Sept. 28. $12-$32. Thurs.-Sat., 7:30 p.m.; Sun., 6:30 p.m. 499 Peachtree St. 404-874-5299.
