In a period marked by hard times and economic scarcity (hmm, what's that like?), impoverished workers find solace in old-timey gospel music in Theatrical Outfit's TENT MEETING. Helmed by artistic director Tom Key, the play-with-music by Ron Reed and Morris Ertman takes place in 1930s Canada and sounds like a combination of a soft-spoken, rural Horton Foote drama and the barn-burning spirituals of Smoke on the Mountain. The cast includes Andrew Houchins, Geoff "Googie" Uterhardt, Shayne Kohout, Daniel Thomas May and Jesus Christ Superstar GOSPEL's Glenn Rainey. Through April 5. $30. Wed.-Sat., 7:30 p.m.; Sat., 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 p.m. Balzer Theatre at Herren's, 84 Luckie St. 678-528-1500. www.theatricaloutfit.org.
