Theater: Tradin' Paint

Thurs., April 30

Marietta's Theatre in the Square guns its motor with TRADIN' PAINT, a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of auto racing at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Winner of the 2006 Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights, the script by Catherine Bush depicts a lovelorn auto parts clerk who finds transcendence in fast cars, even though her boyfriend only loves her for her fried chicken. Jessica Phelps West directs a cast of reliably funny actors including Kate Donadio, Matt Myers, Bart Hansard, Neal Ghant and Veronika Duerr. Through June 7. $18-$33. Tues.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 and 7 p.m. 11 Whitlock Ave., Marietta. 770-422-8369.
