Theater: Xperimental Puppetry Night

Thurs., May 15

Puppets will rise up and take control beginning Thurs., MAY 15. During the 20th annual adults-only XPERIMENTAL PUPPETRY NIGHT, puppets tell the story of Hamlet via G.I. Joe, puppets look back on the L.A. riots, puppets dance in Japanese folktales, and prehistoric puppet apes stumble upon shadow puppets. You can even rock out to the 10-foot-tall skeleton puppet band. This collision of visual arts, music, film, theater, experimentation and puppetry is bound to expand your creative limits. Through May 17. $7-$12. Thurs.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 5 p.m. Center for Puppetry Arts, 1404 Spring St. 404-873-3391. www.puppet.org.
