ATLANTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA -- If you're in the mood for confronting tempestuous, complex personalities, then head straight for Symphony Hall, where the music of Paganini is showcased in performances of his first violin concerto and the fun Paganiniana by Casella. Works by Verdi and Tchaikovsky also are on the bill. With violinist Yang Liu and conductor Federico Cortese. Symphony Hall (Brown)

BACK TO OHIO IN A BODY BAG -- Kula Productions and MJQ present the world premier of Back to Ohio in a Body Bag, a local documentary about two friends who decide to have a street fight. The event features live performances by Bunny Rabid, Defacto, the Barracus Collective and local legend Kenny Crucial. MJQ Concourse (Ware)

THE CREEPS, JIMMY AND THE TEASERS, HEATHENS -- Sure to warm up the Echo Lounge's grand re-opening festivities tonight are the Creeps, a hopelessly devoted Social Distortion cover band (whose members include local scene veterans Jay Bakker, Rob Knight and Mark Griffiths) with ambitious plans to perform entire SD albums live and in sequence. North Carolina's spicy psychobilly trio Jimmy and the Teasers should get things off to an appropriately raw 'n' raunchy start after a pounding curtain-raiser from the totally unhinged Heathens. Echo Lounge (Nicoll)

DQE -- Grace Braun and her band of rocking primitivists celebrate the release a new 7-inch single on local fringe-music label Old Gold. The Earl (Sarig)

FORMAT -- Encore hosts the opening night of its drum 'n' bass showcase at Ten27. Joining rotating residents D:RC and Weatherman are the U.K.'s Klute and Atlanta's own Bobble, mixing a selection of drum 'n' bass, 2-step, downtempo and nu_skool breaks. Ten27 (Ware)

KINGS OF NUTHIN', FLATHEAD MIKE AND THE MERCURYS -- A Boston rockabilly band with an acclaimed disc to its credit (last year's Get Busy Livin' or Get Busy Dyin'), the Kings of Nuthin' boogie into the Star Bar armed with everything from a standup bass to a washboard to a bottle of lighter fluid. Greasing the wheels for the Kings' fiery arrival are Flathead Mike and the Mercurys, a high-octane Atlanta trio that plays unchained psychobilly in the smokin' tradition of the Rev. Horton Heat. Star Bar (Nicoll)

ORPHEUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA -- For the past 29 years, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra has survived the vicissitudes of the classical music market -- surely a feat in itself for a chamber music group. From their home base at New York's Carnegie Hall, they spend much of the year touring -- and once again have included Atlanta on their itinerary. They perform works by Wolf, Mozart and Dvorak as well as Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzes for orchestra. Glenn Memorial Auditorium/Emory (Brown)

VICTOR WOOTEN AND THE WOOTEN BROTHERS -- It's a family affair as the three siblings (bass, keys and guitar) charge through slick R&B, metal, jazz fusion, hip-hop and gobs of funk (but none of the nifty bluegrass fusion Vic churns out with Bela Fleck). This is sure to be a fun, lengthy, eclectic show featuring jaw-dropping (if often overlong) solos peppered with surprising covers. Incredible musicianship abounds all around, but this is certainly a bass enthusiast's wet dream. Georgia Theatre/Athens (Horowitz)
