BLUE STATES -- See Record Reviews, p. 95. Trinity (Ware)
HUSTLER -- Nomenclature's infamous monthly is back for another round of xxxcitement, featuring the deep house of J-Luv, Kevin O and Boston's DJ Fran. Motomasa, waynealanbaugh and Rob Holliday spin upstairs, with Lucas Clyde, Corey, Tim Degroot and Edo churning out downtempo and acid jazz in the Korova Lounge. Nomenclature Museum (Ware)
INDIEGRRRL SHOWCASE -- South Carolina singer/songwriters Leslie Berry, New York's Meghan Cary, Atlantan Lauren Fincham and Baltimore's Sarah Pinsker perform at Eddie's to raise awareness for Indiegrrrl, an independent forum for information, networking and conversation about non-commercial music from a female perspective. Eddie's Attic (Smith)
THE MARY KARLZEN BAND, THE JOLYNN DANIEL BAND, MOLLY BANCROFT -- Walking the Mason-Dixon line between rock and country, Mary Karlzen offers tasty fresh folk-rock, her voice easily switching from childlike to a husky intensity similar to Melissa Etheridge. The softer Jolynn Daniel offers more traditionally beautiful vocals. Former Lift frontwoman Molly Bancroft closes with an acoustic set. 10 High (Kuldell)
LEON REDBONE -- Although Redbone's been crooning the same vaudeville/pre-WWII oldies shtick for a quarter-century, his obvious affection for -- and exhaustive knowledge of -- this musty yet endearing era makes him more than just a dusty curio on the pop-scene mantel. His lackadaisical baritone, droopy fedora and dark sunglasses add to the package. Sweet and lowdown. Variety Playhouse (Horowitz)
Beck and Alabama Shakes...that's about it. I'm sure there's an unknown or two I would…
Well, this years Music Midtown sucks!

3 people apparently love handing over an extra 40% in fees for nothing in return…
Dang. I thought they would name some actual headliners.
