Once an acoustic singer-songwriter, Nashville-based Mackenzie Scott's stunning compositions came after her family purchased a Gibson 335 electric guitar for her as a Christmas present. Torres' heartfelt, fleshed-out works still contain ample raw moments, which are fully on display throughout her eponymous debut released earlier this year. These days, the 22-year old Tennessean's music closely resembles the early work cathartic crooner Sharon Van Etten. Don't be surprised if she makes a similar jump in the years to come.
