Upcoming: Short List

Tyler Ramsey, Katt Williams and more

May 15 Thursday

Hope yer feelin' melancholic. Band of Horses' TYLER RAMSEY (pictured) brings his wistful laments from Asheville, N.C., serving up songs from his bittersweet release A Long Dream About Swimming Across the Sea. He'll be met halfway by Tallahassee singer/songwriter Pat Puckett, whose 2006 release, Kantine, features a quid pro quo guest appearance by Alejandro Escovedo (to whom he's often compared). $10. 9 p.m. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Road. 404-522-3950. www.badearl.com. (David Lee Simmons)

May 17 Saturday

Comedian, actor and rapper extraordinaire KATT WILLIAMS is bringing his hilarious It's Pimpin' Pimpin' Tour to Philips Arena for one night only, and the fellas might want to keep their women close. Though he stands no taller than 5 feet 5 inches, Williams' stage presence makes him a comedic giant as he seamlessly riffs between one-liners and monologues about what else – pimpin'. Accurately guess how many times he says the word "pimp" in one hour and win a free cane to smack a ho. $55.50-$100. 8 p.m. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive. 404-878-3000. www.ticketmaster.com. (Noah Gardenswartz)

May 17 Saturday

In the Reagan era, the NIGHTPORTERS were Atlanta's answer to the Replacements, the Clash and the Rolling Stones. Vocalist/guitarist Andy Browne's guttural bark and jangle carried with it the history of drunk and disorderly rock 'n' roll poetry with a gruff swagger that swayed through a legacy of rowdy and reflective tunes. These reunion shows are becoming increasingly fewer and farther between, so make this one a priority. The Hot Rods and Johnny Hibbert open. $12-$15. 8 p.m. Smith's Olde Bar, 1578 Piedmont Road. 404-875-1522. www.smithsoldebar.com. (Chad Radford)
