Take a break from $10 movie tickets and loud Hollywood special effects for The Lion Mountains: A Journey Through Sierra Leone History, a documentary about 25-year-old Louis Buckley’s journey. Buckley, a Jamaican-English man born and raised in England, visits Africa to learn more about his roots. But upon finding Sierra Leone war-torn, Buckley treks to discover the country’s past. The screening is part of MOVIES WITH A MISSION, a monthly series that aims to promote positive images and counter myths about people of African decent. The world’s largest 10K since the 1970s, the PEACHTREE ROAD RACE takes place on Independence Day. After months of training, 55,000 athletes of all ages and levels will line up near Lenox Square Mall for the 39th running of this annual event, and begin the 6.2 mile route that will lead them to the new finish line at the intersection of Juniper Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown.
