Visual art: Day of the Dead

Fri., Oct. 23

Aside from the influx of run-of-the-mill attempts to revitalize the scary-movie genre and races to find the freakiest – or raciest – costume for Halloween, the chilly fall air also brings a time of ritualistic remembrance for those who came before. In celebration of El Día de los Muertos, Tweet Design reprises its successful DAY OF THE DEAD ART SHOW. Featuring more than 70 miniature coffins decorated by artists, musicians and designers from across the country, the second annual show commemorates the ancient Mexican holiday while also offering a forum for artistic expression. Eat taquitos, drink sangria and be merry as local band Uncle Daddy and the Kissin' Cousins provide music for the night. Through Nov. 29. Free, donations welcome. Opening night, 8 p.m.; Sat.-Sun., 1-6 p.m. Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery, 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Suite 8. 404-522-0655. www.eyedrum.org.
