Visual art: Disobedience: Art as Agent of Change

Fri., Jan. 15

From En Negro y Blanco's photographic exploration of Argentina's civil war to Disobedience Archive's study of Seattles anti-globalization protests, both parts of DISOBEDIENCE: ART AS AGENT OF CHANGE probe the oft untidy affair between artistic practice and activism as a resistance tactic. Art Papers Editor Sylvie Fortin moderates a symposium with curator Marco Scotini and artist Kara Walker, among others. A reception follows at the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design Gallery. Symposium: Free. 1-5 p.m. Rialto Center for the Arts, 80 Forsyth St. 404-413-9800. www.rialtocenter.org. Exhibit: Through Jan. 27. Free. Reception, 5 p.m.; Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 10 Peachtree Center Ave. 404-413-5230. www.gsu.edu/artgallery.
