Visual art: itodenwa

Fri., May 29

Inman Park gem Whitespace Gallery displays the work of yet another promising young artist in Japanese-born, SCAD-trained photographer Yukari Umekawa's latest exhibition, ITODENWA (2 CANS + 1 STRING). Utilizing pinhole cameras and penlights, Umekawa's collection invokes feelings of isolation and nostalgia in dreamlike images that possess an oddly realistic quality. The photographs will be displayed alongside Civic Remedies, Scott Silvey's painting exhibit. Through July 3. Free. Opening reception, 7-10 p.m.; Wed.-Sat., 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and by appointment. 814 Edgewood Ave. 404-688-1892.
