Resident nice guy Jimmy Carter better watch his back; he may have some good-guy competition in coming months as Atlanta catches Dalai Lama fever in anticipation of the spiritual leader's installment as Emory's presidential distinguished professor. The Dalai Lama's whirlwind tour comes to Atlanta Oct. 20-22, and the visual-arts community heralds his arrival with an exhibition that originated at New York's Rubin Museum of Art, THE MISSING PEACE: ARTISTS CONSIDER THE DALAI LAMA, continuing Mon., OCT. 15, and through Oct. 27. The show centers on artists including Richard Avedon, Ilya and Emily Kabakov, Sebastiao Salgado, Anish Kapoor and Richard Gere, working in a variety of media to respond to the Dalai Lama's message of peace. Free. Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sat., noon-4 p.m. Emory University Visual Arts Gallery, 700 Peavine Creek Drive. 404-727-6315. www.visualarts.emory.edu.
