WEDNESDAY, AUG. 29

ARAB ON RADAR -- Those familiar with this Providence, R.I., quartet like to refer to the music as "aural terrorism." Not so sure about that. It looks and sounds more like neo-Marxist no-wave garage noise with potty-mouth lyrics and dabs of punk rock to spare. AOR's kick-ass live show deserves to be seen at least once. Electrosleep International and Hemogoblins round out this final installment of "Eyedrum Goes to Star Bar." Star Bar (Arieh)

THE O'JAYS -- Two days before the Isley Brothers kick off a weekend of Montreux Atlanta concerts, another classic soul group, the O'Jays ("Back Stabbers," "Love Train"), arrives with a comeback-minded new album of their own on the way. A third set of soul legends, the Whispers, open. Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Sarig)

PAN PEOPLE STEELBAND -- The local steel drum group features pan-steel players hailing from throughout the Caribbean and U.S., playing everything from calypso to hip-hop. The free 6 p.m. concert is part of the Montreux Atlanta Music Festival. Centennial Olympic Park (Sarig)

TOP-OF-THE-TREE III FINALS -- CJ's third Battle of the Bands comes to a close with sets by the Wood, Nanyana and Tentilfour. They compete for the grand prize -- recording time at Tree Sound Studio and a slot on the Locals Only stage at Big Day Out. CJ's Landing (Horowitz)
