Wet your whistle

Beer fest

Has the hot Southern sun left you parched lately? Then head to Woodruff Park JUNE 17 for Creative Loafing's BEERFEST '06, where you can join forces with your super-heroic allies in alcohol -- Amber, Malt, Lager and Stout -- to battle thirst, boredom, and most importantly, sobriety. Sample a long list of suds, from imports such as Corona and Grolsch to microbrews like Sweetwater and Flying Dog. Between gulps, you can check out live music or see how long you last on a mechanical bull. The bands, beers and interactive games offer ample entertainment, but don't forget to ward off the headache-inducing powers of the evil Dr. Hangover with some food. $10-$30. 2-7 p.m. Woodruff Park, Auburn Avenue and Peachtree Street, downtown Atlanta. atlanta.creativeloafing.com/beer.
