What was the best and worst album of the year?

Jim: Best is The Milk-Eyed Mender by Joanna Newsom. She's the best lyricist to come around in a long time. A very unique voice, an amazing harpist. The worst is by a woman who calls herself Jem. This Jem woman is just so middling. She's much better known than Joanna Newsom because she's so mediocre and boring and people can relate to that.

Cynthia: Martina McBride [Martina]. There's a couple of songs that particularly touch me. Tim McGraw's album [Live Like You Were Dying] is disappointing. Three hit songs, and he didn't bother putting any time into the rest of the album. I have a thing for older white men with long hair. I think he's attractive, but he's not much of an artist.

Steve: Mindy Smith, One Moment More. She just sings good songs and doesn't care whether it falls into any particular category of Christian, country, folk, rock. Worst is U2, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Spare me. Has anybody noticed they have sucked for 20 years? And they're certainly no geniuses at dismantling anything. I'd love to see them try to dismantle a bomb.
