Last year, arts nonprofit WonderRoot and the performers of gloATL decided to join their diverse forces for the arts gala WonderGlo at the W Hotel Midtown. The event brought in unusual collaborations: a feast was served to guests atop tables made by a local sculptor; opera singers performed in elevators; dancers migrated through hallways; and artists transformed rooms. That experiment has now become tradition. The gala returns on Sat., May 11, with performances and works from Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's emerging composer Michael Kurth, poetry artist Big Rube of the Dungeon Family, filmmaker Micah Stansell, Lauri Stallings of gloATL, the Object Group, and artists of WonderRoot engaging the hotel in ways that we can't yet predict. Big spenders can pay for a three-course dinner and full treatment for $250, but $50 gets you into the experience (and helps fund two worthy organizations). Just a late-night person? You can get into the Creative Loafing after party on the 27th floor for $10.
