Yann Tiersen

When: Thu., May 24 2012
Price: $20-$22.50
Parisian composer Yann Tiersen's name will forever be linked to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 2001 film Amélie, for which he composed and performed the soundtrack. But Tiersen has spent a lifetime crafting gorgeous pop, folk, and modern classical works that range in style from epically melancholy to playfully surreal — usually based upon his starry-eyed piano compositions. Skyline, his latest album, and second for American label Anti-, is a scenic affair that’s built on an array of keyboard, violin, and electric-guitar textures steeped in the naturally occurring distortions of so many instruments being pushed to their limits.
