ZOROASTER: Michael Vick approved?
The Atlanta rock renaissance is more than just two or three Pitchfork-approved bands. It's deep, man. One of the more popular acts is Zoroaster, a dark, grungy metal concoction that a recent press release described as "summoned by the mighty sludge of the Melvins, the mysticism of Celtic Frost and the nihilistic blues of EyeHateGod." Whatever that means.
I've seen Zoroaster before, and it ain't really my thing. But that shouldn't stop dark, grungy metal types from picking up the band's upcoming album, Dog Magic. It comes out Sept. 11 via Illinois-based label Battle Kommand Records, and it includes the 13-minute dirge "Tualatin."
