Mos Def: Conscious of the South

While Mos Def is far from a hater, he has been known to speak out about Southern hip-hop's lack of political-mindedness. So perhaps it's no surprise that while rappers below the Mason-Dixon have been noticeably quiet regarding the ongoing Jena 6 controversy, Mos Def has already stepped up to say he will be attending the planned Sept. 20 rally in Jena, La., to show support for the six defendants known as the Jena 6.
