Björk: Fairy godmother descends upon the Fox

You know how you dance when nobody's watching?

Björk dances like that with everybody watching, like she's alone in front of her bedroom mirror with the music blasting and the door locked.

She rocked a sold-out crowd at the Fox Theatre Monday night (Sept. 17) for about an hour and a half with her tribal dancing and her flawlessly flawed voice as she sang old bangers and mixed in a few new ones. She was also very congenial. After nearly every song, she said "thank you" to the deafening crowd. In her clipped accent, it sounded more like "think you." I'd like to think that was purposeful.

I'm not going to bore you with my extended critique. Besides, I don't think I could put it any better than CL Happenings Editor Debbie Michaud, who called it "a giant sparkly confetti rave."

Sounds like she was sitting somewhere near my aisle. The second-hand weed smoke was pretty thick back there. Add the green lasers, red strobe lights, falling ticker tape and Björk's 10-piece dancing horn section on top of that, and, you get the picture.

Speaking of which, thanks to Perry Julien for the live photos.
