As exciting as a musical collaboration between Athens songwriters Vic Chesnutt, Elf Power and the Amorphous Strums sounds, the fruits of their pairing, titled Dark Developments draws from a pallette of menacing pop tones that elude any and all expectations. The album was recorded over the course of the winter months  by Vic and Derek Almstead in Chesnutt’s attic studio. The album revels in an intimate, home-recorded atmosphere that captures the mood of the dreary days in which these songs were recorde.

Think John Cale circa Fear or Lou Reed’s Street Hassle and you've got the right idea.

Dark Developments on CD/LP is due out Oct. 28th  via Orange Twin Records.
