Young (and old), fly and flashy: BET's suite life

On a rainy afternoon in downtown Atlanta, Artistry was transformed into a sparkling showcase of the young, fly and flashy at the BET Preview Style Suite, one of many industry events that popped off in the city this past weekend for the second annual BET Hip-Hop Awards.

A gifting suite is an excuse for celebrities and those in-the-mix individuals to load up on all sorts of goodies, from fashion apparel and shoes to jewelry and high-end beauty products. Attendees at this year’s BET gifting lounge (hosted by the Garner Circle PR, Branded PR and the True Star firm) mixed, mingled and maneuvered from booth to booth filling their Steve Madden totes with fun finds like kicks from J Shoes and Laced Up, ties and other gentlemanly wear from Executive Clothiers, Old Babydoll tees and hand-fulls of Trojan condoms — you know, for after the after party.

Among the many big fish making a splash were Mychael Knight, Q. Parker of 112, V-103’s Frank Ski, Dorion from BET’s College Hill Atlanta, Sammie, Young Joc and Chingy.

The highlight of the afternoon, aside from the utterly delicious Patron-laced cupcakes courtesy of Cakes by Tatyana, was the arrival of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta," the latest stars to emerge from the reality television machine, Bravo TV. Artistry was all abuzz as the ladies glided across the room in true celebrity diva fashion.

Free gear, comped drinks, a baller-ific spread of fruit and cheeses, and all the celebrity gawking you can handle — not bad for an otherwise dreary day in the A.
