This Thursday night (March 5) Pine Magazine returns to the Star Bar for another first Thursday of the month free show.

The line-up includes Batata Doce, Sorry No Ferrari, This Piano Plays Itself, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, Tous les Jours and DJ Press Play.

The show is free and the music starts at 9 p.m. The Star Bar, 437 Moreland Ave. 404-681-9018.

"Batata Doce is fresh off an east coast tour ready to bring their special style of Brazilian garage music that sets them far from the usual brand of rock you're likely to see.

Reverb-heavy with a hint of shoe gaze, This Piano Plays Itself has become increasingly popular over the last year, and here's your chance to see why.

The skilled piano playing of Blair Crimmins and the Hookers is complemented by an almost old-school style of vocals that is surprisingly modern while still carrying that twinge of nostalgia that places their sound in a spot a bit hard to pin down.

New to the scene, Tous les Jours is lovely in its minimalist experimentation, with songs that feature little more than a voice and a stripped down guitar to the more expansive tracks complete with an accordion.

Sorry no Ferrari has a ton of influences listed on their Myspace page and it shows – each song varies from the other so incredibly so, their show spans one genre to the next, from an almost mathy sort of sound to songs a bit looser and almost jangly."
