Atlanta's longest-standing punk rock band, the Subsonics, have canceled their performance at this week's Fringe Factory Halloween event, "Fringe Factory Explodes the Plastic Inevitable" on Sat., Oct. 25th at The Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge.

The band canceled their show this week because vocalist and guitarist Clay Reed is recovering from injuries he received from a run-in with an off duty Atlanta Police Department officer at Publix on Ponce about a month ago. More details on the story are coming soon.

In their place, an impromptu version of Asheville, NC-based country/garage punk icons Reigning Sound will perform. The group's singer and guitarist, Greg Cartwright, who will already be on hand to DJ, will front a small incarnation of the group.

It is uncertain exactly who from Reigning Sound will be there to perform, but the show will indeed go on, and all who attend are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Andy Warhol character or '60s rock icon.

$7. 9 p.m. Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge, 644 N. Highland Ave. 404-874-5756, ext. 450. www.myspace.com/thehighlandinn.com

We'll have a donation box at Fringe Factory to help with Clay's medical bills.
