In a cloud of smoke, Devin the Dude is coming to Atlanta

Posted by Rodney Carmichael on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 10:07 PM

It's a wonder why Devin the Dude never ranks higher on those redundant Best Rapper Alive lists. Guess he's too quirky for the mainstream. Can't help but wonder, what Richard Pryor would think?

Devin the Dude with 88 Keys, Jaspects, Nesby Phips and Prynce. $20. 10 p.m. Fri., June 5. Ambient + Studio. 678-923-8020. www.ambientplusstudio.com.

Get familiar with the Dude. YouTubage after the jump.

"Reefer and Beer" (Yes, that's Devin rapping in the redneck voice. Try to ignore the annoying photos):

"What a Job" feat. Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000 (A rap song about being a rapper? Imagine that. From his ’07 Waitin' To Inhale album. Peep Andre's classic verse from his post-Idlewild renaissance.):

"Zeldar" (Makes sense, when you think about it, that aliens would like to get high.):

I'd go, but Camp Lo is playing on the same night with less admission cost and better openers.
