In the 90s, surf rock extra terrestrials Man or Astro-Man? trail blazed a path of fiery kerrrang from the out reaches of the cosmos to their home base in Auburn, Ala. which later relocated to the then grimy west side of Atlanta.
But almost as quickly as the group Birdstuff, Coco the Electronic Monkey Wizard, Star Crunch and a rotating cast of other equally oddball players appeared, they vanished leaving a seemingly infinite trail of albums and singles in its wake for Touch & Go, Estrus, Worry Bird and a few other labels.
It has long been rumored that the group was dead and gone forever, but it is now known that the band was only sleeping, hiding somewhere deep in the American South, recharging its batteries and plotting its return.
A communique sent out by the group this week announced that MOAM? is back and primed to play a few shows, benefits and other such events in 2010.
First stop, the group is playing at the Bottletree Cafe in Birmingham, Ala., on March 6. After that they're off to Austin, Texas, to play SXSW.
Stay tuned for more on the imminent return of Man or Astro-Man?
