Push 360 tonight at Black Lion Cafe

The place may not have curb appeal, but tonight’s bill sounds pretty cool

If you peeped this week’s CL, you may have stumbled across “Atlanta nightlife gold” — the news feature about the juicy after-hours scene that continues to emerge around Edgewood and Auburn Avenues. While spots like Cafe Circa, Noni’s, Harlem Bar, Corner Tavern and even the new SoundTable have garnered most of the attention, one club, located directly across from Pal’s Lounge on Auburn Ave., has flown under the radar.

?
From the outside Black Lion Cafe often looks like what you might call a drive-by club, as in one of those spots you’re anxious to keep driving by late at night. While it’s pretty much been known as a neighborhood spot for hip-hop, beer and wings in years past, there’s good reason to give it a second look now, particularly on Sunday nights when the alternative open mic showcase Push 360? jumps off.

?
I haven’t been yet, but from the mix of featured acts on tonight’s bill — promising everything from punk to crunk — it sounds pretty cool. If you can’t make it out tonight, peep the Push 360? MySpace page for future Sunday night lineups.
