Sleater-Kinney to rock again?

Tiny Mix Tapes reports that Sleater-Kinney, the long-beloved Portland-based three piece that went on indefinite hiatus four years back, may get together to release a new record. But it's more pipe dreamery than certainty at this point: guitarist Carrie Brownstein is quoted as saying the band will "probably do something ... sometime in the next five years." Bummerz. Pick up the pace, ladies!

In the IFC interview, Brownstein, known also for her terrific music blog Monitor Mix, talks about her role in the upcoming film Some Days Are Better Than Others, which also stars the Shins' James Mercer. She also mentions that she and S-K drummer Janet Weiss have started a new band together, and that they have written seven songs. Eeek!

And in case you're not yet totally in love with Carrie Brownstein, check out the comedy shorts she does with "Saturday Night Live" cast member/indie rock comic Fred Armisen. Jill of all trades, she is!
