If you were looking forward to seeing the Reflection Eternal Tour (Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek) stop in Atlanta this month youre in luck its still going to happen. If you were looking forward to seeing Kidz in the Hall join them when they perform June 14 at the Loft youre in for a world of disappointment because its not going to happen. Dont blame Naledge and Double O for the mishap though as it was never really their fault, instead they point the finger at janky promoters.
Whats going on with the June 14 show thats supposed to be happening?
Naledge: That shit is so false man. Ive heard that they been doing crazy promo on 103 and its supposed to be at the Loft and were not doing that show. Not that I wouldnt want to do that show, but it never was real, they just placed us on the bill. I think they might have had one conversation with our booking agent and never really confirmed anything.
Double O: It was one of those things where I guess we got put on a short list of names or some opening dates for Reflection Eternal. The dates we got offered were all like a month ago and Naldege ended up doing one of them in Chicago and somehow that got misconstrued as us being on all these new dates. Its unfortunate, but no its not happening, but fortunately well be in Atlanta really soon.
Is this phantom booking a regular thing or more of an isolated incident?
Naledge: Not with us, it doesnt usually happen with us. This is the first time that I can really think of a show being majorly promoted, like everybody and their mama hitting me up about it and its not even slightly real. There are fans that have already contacted me assuming were going to be there and if they didnt do that I wouldnt have known that it was even going on. Its something that happens with the territory. The more youre doing shows and the longer you stay in this the crazier stuff happens. There are a lot of crazy things that happened in my life because of this hip hop thing. Janky promoters.
Whats your response when this stuff happens?
Naledge: In this day and age with all the technology I can just go on Twitter and say we dont have a show every five minutes and by then somebody whos a fan of us will relay the message. Theres nothing we can really do, I dont know why a promoter would even promote something false. Were not the headliners so it doesnt really matter I suppose to those die hard Reflection Eternal fans, but I think its just a miscommunication of whos on the tour and somehow they assumed that were on the tour and ran with it. Its fucked up, but I dont want my fans to think we ditched the show or something when we havent been scheduled to perform in the first place.
Do you guys think there will be a stop set up in Atlanta sometime soon?
Naledge: Its weird because we actually do very well sales wise in Atlanta and its one of our biggest sales markets, but we never get booked there so thats up to the city of Atlanta and the people that book shows to make a point to bring us there.
Double O: Well see what happens in the upcoming months. Theyre putting together a Duck Down tour, so if were on that well probably be coming through to the Atl.
