Mastodon/ Mario Beltrami compose Jonah Hex score

Following the June 18 opening of director Jimmy Hayward’s film Jonah Hex, Reprise will release a 6-track EP of the film’s score, composed by Mastodon and Oscar-nominated composer Mario Beltrami (The Hurt Locker, 3:10 to Yuma).

Mastodon spontaneously composed the tracks while watching footage from the film, which is akin to the experimental approach that they took with their ’06 album, Blood Mountain, which according to a press release from Reprise, is the album that won Hayward over for the project.

Four new songs from the film's score, “Death March,” “Clayton Boys,” “Indian Theme” and “Train Assault” plus 2 bonus versions will hit the Internets on June 29.
