Happy birthday Woody Guthrie!

woody-guthrie.jpg

If he were still walking among us and kicking against the pricks, Woody Guthrie would celebrate his 98th birthday today.

Criminal Records is celebrating with a free performance by Muleskinner MacQueen from Cleveland County, N.C. Stockade Sam is also performing.

The original anti-fascist and Dust Bowl balladeer who gave such songs as "This Land is Your Land," "Dust Pneumonia Blues" and "Tom Joad pts. 1 & 2" wasn't much of a city slicker and neither are Muleskinner and Sam. So if you feel like singing out against the fascists, come on down. Music starts at 7 p.m.

Criminal Records is located at 1154-A Euclid Ave. 404-215-3511.

"The world is filled with people who are no longer needed — and who try to make slaves of all of us — and they have their music and we have ours."
— Woody Guthrie
