Internet phenomenon Eli Porter finally speaks out about his infamous freestyle video.

If you spend enough time in the blogosphere, you’re sure to have encountered at least some passing mention of Eli Porter, the star of the infamous “Iron Mic” freestyle battle video. Among bloggers, his name has become a punchline and his verses have become catchphrases. Words can’t really do the video justice, so if you’re one of the few who haven’t seen the video, here it is.

The video was shot in 2003 by a group of students in a Chamblee High School broadcasting class, quickly becoming the stuff of school legend and later viral fame after being placed on YouTube in late 2007 by XOXNXEX Films, a production group centered at the school at the time. The video went on to become a popular Internet meme, garnering over two million views on YouTube views, becoming a frequent feature on worst/funniest freestyle and rap video lists and appearing in countless fan-made remixes.
