To commemorate the release of Halcyon Digest, the new LP from local boys Deerhunter, the band has announced it will play a record release show at the Variety Playhouse on Friday, October 1. Yeah, that’s two months from now, but tickets go on sale this Friday, so start thinking now about which pair of skinny jeans you’re gonna wear. (You can never really go wrong with Hot Lava Pink.)

Also in Variety-related news, remember when we got all pissy that Janelle Monáe and Of Montreal weren’t planning on bringing their mega-awesome-double-tour to Atlanta? Well, we should have had more faith in those guys, and been a little patient, because, according to an email from VP dude Brad Syna, Monáe is set to open for Of Montreal at the band’s show there November 6. You can buy tix on the venue’s site, which doesn’t say anything about Janelle, but like, trust us, she’s totally playing.
